By Sandra Woodruff

 Printer friendly page

Yield: 1 serving

1/2 cup oat bran
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup nonfat or low-fat milk or evaporated nonfat or low-fat milk
3/4 cup water
1/3 cup chopped canned (drained) pears in juice
1 1/2 tablespoons chopped toasted pecans

1. Place the oat bran and cinnamon in a 1-quart pot and stir to mix. Stir in the milk, water, and pears. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 1 minute or until the cereal is soft and the liquid is absorbed.

2. Let sit for 2 minutes before serving. Stir in the pecans and top with some additional milk and low-calorie sweetener if desired. Add a sprinkling of dried cranberries or raisins if desired.
